The word “TOK” (Tap) and “SEN” (Energy Line) combine to mean “to tap on the energy line”.

TOK-SEN is a very traditional and mystical type of massage from Northern Thailand. What makes this form of massage unique is the use of a small wooden hammer and dowel used by a TOK-SEN practitioner. These instruments are made from the bark of a tree that has been struck by lightning and practitioners believe that this lends special mystical powers to the instruments themselves. The purpose of TOK-SEN is to release tension from your body, tapping your body’s energy line and delivering this shock wave to a deep part of your body. These shock waves improve circulation in the muscles, tendons, lymph nodes, blood, and chi energy which leave the body feeling relaxed and enlivened.
